   Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Giese and Kimball memorial home for Mrs. Amelia L. Zach, 63, of 1507 Lincoln Way, who died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Parker. Mrs. Zach had been an invalid for the past 12 years. The Rev. Vicot rp. Frohme will officiate with burial in Pine Lake cemetery. Friends may call at the Giese and Kimball home from this evening until services. Mrs. Zach was born in Laporte on June 25, 1866, the daughter of John & Dorothea Martinsen Pufpaff. Mrs. Zach, the widow of William F. Zach whom she married in 1888 was a member of the St. Paul's Evan. and Ref. church and the Pythian Sisters. The only survivors are her daughter, Mrs. Parker, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her husband, the son, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

   Mrs. Emma C. Zach, age 68 of 411 Neisen St, widow of John C. Zach who died Jan 8 of this year, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Saturday at her home. The daughter of August & Augusta Wildt, she was borm in Union Township, this county and had lived in LaPorte County all her life. On Oct 13, 1887 at Tracy she was married to John C. Zach. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical church, American Legion Auxo;aru of Hamon Gray post and a Gold Star mother. Surviving are 4 daughters; Mrs. Elsie Minges of So. Bend; Mrs. Sylvia Biggs and Mrs. Edith Wedow both of LaPorte and Mrs. Edna L. Meinke of Oakland, California; three brothers, Charles G. Wildt of Veedersburg IN; William C. Wildt of LaPorte; and John C. Wildt of Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Kewley, Mrs. Laura miller and Mrs. Madeline Miller all of Laporte an Mrs. Carrie Roher of Lindsey, Cal; 12 grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 tom aft at the home. The Rev. Victor P. Frohme will officiate and burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery with OM Haverstock in charge. Zach, Herbert – died March 1925
   The funeral of Herbert F. Zach was held yesterday afternoon from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Zach, 1318 Second Street, was one of the large held in the city for some time. There were many beautiful floral pieces. The pallbearers were A.E. Homann, T.W. Witters, A.J. Biehl, R.S. Rittenhouse, L.W. Eggebrecht and Sofus Hanson all members of the Moose Lodge of which Mr. Zach was a member. The lodge gave its ritualistic exercises at the grave and a firing squad from the American Legion fired a volley and taps were sounded. Mr. Zach was a Legion member. Among those from out of the city who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kyle of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidt, Mr. amd Mrs. Barhardt Marschka, Mr. and Mrs. William Singbush, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Marschka, Charles and Otto Marschka, Charles Gale and family, Mrs. Cornelia Puffpaff and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Hitt, all of Michigan City; and William Krueger of Mishawaka.
   #2. Paper unknown??? Herbert Fredrick Zach, 1117 First Street, died at the Holy Family Hospital at 4:55 a.m. today. Mr. Zach was 33 years old and had been ill for two weeks. He was born in LaPorte on April 28, 1891, and had lived here all his life. He was a foreman at the Advance-Rumely company. Helen N. Marschke became the wife of Mr. Zach on November 26, 1919. She survives with a daughter, Marjorie, 11 and a son William, 3, both at home. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Zach of LaPorte, and one sister, Mrs. Benjamin Parker also survive.
   #3 - Monday Mar 23, 1925 -- Herbert Zack, 34, a native of Laporte died at 5 a.m. today in Holy Family Hospital, Laporte. He is survived by his widow, formerly Helen Marschke of this city, two children, Marjorie and Billy and his parents, Mr and Mrs. Wm. Zach of Laporte. He also leaves one sister. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Zach, John C. - ?? Newspaper - John C. Zach, age 74, for many years an employee of the city park board, passed away at 1 a.m., today at his home, 411 Niesen Street. The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zach, he was born in LaPorte on June 28, 1862 and had lived here all his life. On October 13, 1887 at Tracy he married Emma Wildt. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church. Surviving are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Lawrence C. Wedow, Mrs. George A. Biggs, both of LaPorte, Mrs. William Minges of South Bend, and Mrs. E.L. Meinke of Oakland, California; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Baker and Mrs. Augusta Barlag of LaPorte. Two sons, Howard and Earl, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Victor P. Frohne will officiate and burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery with O. M. Haverstock in charge. Zach, William F. - LaPorte Daily Herald-Argus, Thursday February 22, 1934
   William F. Zach, 69, of 1318 Second Street, died at 8:35 this morning at his home after an illness of two months. He was born in LaPorte October 10, 1864, and resided here all of his life. On May 31, 1888 he was united in marriage in LaPorte to Amelia Puffpaff, who survives him. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church and the Knights of Pythias here. He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Ben Parker, Sr. of LaPorte; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Baker and Mrs. Augusta Barlag, of LaPorte; one brother, John Zach of LaPorte; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the residence Monday at 2:30, the Rev. Victor P. Frohne officiating. The remains may be viewed at the residence Sunday afternoon and evening. Mr Zach was president of the St. Paul's board for 17 years. The Knights of Pythias will have charge of services at the grave. Burial in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Zahrn, Mrs. John (Henrietta Mueller), La Porte Daily Herald, Tuesday, February 2, 1897 - Mrs. John Zahrn died Saturday and was buried at Beatty's Cemetery. She was 76 yrs, 4 m, 16 days. Henrietta Mueller was born in Mechlenberg, Germany on September 14, 1820 and was married to John Zahrn on December 5, 1846. They came to this country in November, 1853 (Utica, New York). In april, 1856 they came to La Porte County, went to Tippecanoe County in 1861 and then after a few years to Illinois and back to La Porte County in 1869. Survivors include the husband and children Fred H, John C., Lewis W., and Mrs. William Lute.

Zarr, William - LaPorte Herald-Argus, 2-23-1926
   William Zarr, 69, for several years a resident of Wellsboro, died at 2:30 yesterday afternoon in his home after an illness of long duration. Mr. Zarr was born in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, May 10, 1856, the son of John and Katherine Zarr.
On July 22, 1876 he was united in marriage with Isabella Heistand and to this union were born seven children, four of whom preceded Mr. Zarr in death, in infancy. For many years, Mr. Zarr farmed in Noble township but in late years he has been a resident of Wellsboro.
Survivors are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Smyers of Union Mills and Mrs. Frank Gemberling of LaPorte, on son Roy Zarr, a sister, and 10 grandchildren. The funeral services will be held from the home at 3 p.m. tomorrow, with interment in Kingsbury Cemetery. John Sweitzer is the undertaker in charge.

Dell J. Zeigler (1845-1920) Adelia Zinn Zigler, wife of John Zigler, passed away at the Family home in Union Mills, Saturday morning following a long illness with cancer and other complications.
Mrs. Zigler was one of the pioneers of LaPorte Co. and a woman who lived well her years, filling them with decades of love and tender ministrations.
The funeral service was held at the home yesterday afternoon with Rev. Clarke R. Parker of This city officiating. Mrs. Zigler was born 10 Jul 1845 in Ohio. Coming to this country
with her parents in her girlhood. She had been a resident of LaPorte Co. for 72 yrs. She is mourned by her husband, the companion of many years and one son Dean Zigler of Ft. Wayne.
A daughter passed away about *three years ago. Three sisters and one brother survive the deceased. J. G. Sweitzer was the funeral Director.

Zemanek, Daniel J. Sr. Jan. 16, 1925 - Jan. 15, 1994 - (South Bend Tribune 1/16/1994)
SOUTH BEND - Daniel J. Zemanek Sr., 68, of North Meade Street, died at 1:28 a.m. Saturday in Michiana Community Hospital. Mr. Zemanek retired from Bendix Corp. He was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Chicago.     On June 14, 1952, in South Bend, he married Evelyn Kloska. She survives with a son, Daniel Jr. of South Bend; a grandchild; and his mother, Anna Kauchak of Hanna. Mr. Zemanek was a member of American Legion Post 284 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Golden Hills Post 8748. He was a World War II veteran.  
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hanna Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

   "Services for Mrs. Nora Ziegler of Potawatomi Park, who died Monday night, will be private on Friday at Michigan City. A native of LaPorte, she was the former Nora Tanger. Her husband is Otto Ziegler. Burial will be in Pine Lake cemetery."

ZimmermanMrs. Anna Zimmerman La Porte Herald-Argus Saturday, January 17, 1970 p.3 Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Zimmerman, 85, of 1102 North Temple, Indianapolis, who died at 5:30 pm Thursday at Community hospital in Indianapolis, will be held at 2 pm Monday at Cutler Brothers Funeral home. The Rev. Edward A. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday noon and until time of services. Mrs. Zimmerman was born in LaPorte on Dec. 7, 1884 to Julius and Louise (Fenker) Siegert. She was married in 1905 to Frederick Zimmerman who died April 3, 1953. She lived here all her life until she went to Indianapolis five years ago to reside with the Rev. and Mrs. Delmar Krueger. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church. Surviving are two sons, Ralph L. and Edgar J., both of LaPorte, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mathilda Ulrich, LaPorte, and Mrs. Lydia Paul, St. Paul, Minn; two sons, Frederick and Emmett, two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Zimmerman, Bertha - LaPorte Herald Argus -- 9 May 1930 Mrs. Henry Zimmerman - Mrs. Bertha (Jerndt) Zimmerman, age 65, wife of Henry Zimmerman, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Fox, 114 D Street. She had been ill four weeks. Mrs. Zimmerman was born in LaPorte on Aug. 28, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jerndt and spent her entire lifetime here. On March 17, 1900 in Michigan City she was married to Henry Zimmerman. Surviving are her husband; three daughter, Mrs. Vera Schumaker and Mrs. Gladys Gatzka, both of Michigan City and Mrs. Bernice Fox of LaPorte; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. R. Finstick of LaPorte and Mrs. Louise Hyde of Boonville, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Fox home, 114 D street. The Rev. Clayton H. Mrs. Zimmerman, the daughter of John and Rhoda Mandervill, was born in New Jersey on Aug. 2, 1846. She had lived here since 6 years of age. On Aug. 1, 1862, she was married in LaPorte to Daniel Zimmerman, who died Jan. 4, 1903. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Anna Reed of LaPorte, Mrs. Edith Houtz of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. William Cook of LaPorte and Mrs. Minnie Bankson of South Bend; two sons Henry of LaPorte and Jacob of South Bend; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Kraimer of Mishawaka. Two sons, Jarrad and Walter, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the daughter, Mrs. Cook's residence at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The Rev. Paul Eickstaedt will officiate. Zimmerman, Mrs. Clara - LHA -- 6 Sept 1940 - Mrs. Clara Zimmerman, age 69, passed away at her home, 311 Walbash avenue, last night shortly after 10 o'clock after an illness of two months. The daughter of Fred and Augusta Oestermeyer, she was born in LaPorte on Nov. 19, 1870 and had lived here all of her life. On July 15, 1898, she was married here to Walter Zimmerman, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, the Ladies Aid society and Circle No. 4 of the church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John Reed of LaPorte; a granddaughter, Louise Reed of LaPorte; three brothers, William Oestermeyer of Chicago, both LaOirte; tow sisters, Mrs. Julius Ohlis of LaPorte and Mrs. Julia Fink of Walkerton. Two sisters and her husband preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home. The Rev. M.E. Reinke will officiate and burial will be in Pine Lake cemetery with the Haverstock funeral home in charge. Zimmerman, Daniel - The LaPorte Daily-Argus LaPorte, Indiana, Wednesday, January 4, 1905 Ghastley Spectacle Greeted Woman Mrs. Zimmerman Finds Daniel Zimmerman at Little Kankakee Station, Life Extinct.
  Daniel Zimmerman, aged 66 years, met with an awful death this morning at the pumping station of the LaPorte Water Supple company at the Little Kankakee. At about 7:30 the lifeless body of Zimmerman, caught in the swiftly revolving machinery, was the ghastly spectacle which greeted Mrs. Walter Zimmerman, who went from the house to the station because of the fear that the aged Mr. Zimmerman, who was subject to heart failure, might have fallen in a faint, his absences of any length of time having been always follwed by investigation by members of the family. The machinery had done its deadly work. The right arm of Mr. Zimmerman had been ground off at the shoulder, his ears had been torn away, and a deep hole had been cut in the back of his neck, the blood flowing freely from the several wounds. Mrs. Zimmerman acted with promptness and in an instant stopping the machinery. This permitted the body of the unfortunate man to be released. Life was extinct. His tragic death has caused two theories to be advanced, on that he was suddenly stricken with his heart ailment and fell in such a manner that his body was caught in the machinery, while the other theory is that in oiling the parts of the machinery, Zimmerman's clothes became caught, with the result that the injuries which he received caused death. Mr. Zimmerman was visiting at the home of his son, Walter Zimmerman, who is the day engineer at the station, and it was with the fear that some untimely fate had befallen hime that Mrs. Zimmerman hurried to the power house only to have her fear realized. Undertakers Weir & Sievert were call to take charge of the body. Daniel Zimmerman was a native of Ohio, where he lived until he was 11 years of age, when he bacame a resident of LaPorte county. He is survived by his wife and nine children, Mrs. Anna Reed, Mrs. Edith Hudson, Mrs. Hulda Cook, Mrs. Minnie Bankson, and Walter, Jacob, Henry, Oscar and Jeddie Zimmerman. Zimmerman, Henry, - LaPorte Herald-Argus - 26 Dec 1944 - Henry Zimmerman, 71, LaPorte, died at 10 o'clock last night at the Fairview hospital after an illness of six weeks. The son of Daniel and Charity Zimmerman, he was born in LaPorte county on April 14, 1875 and had lived in this vicinity all his life. He was caretaker at the Fairview hospital. On march 17, 1901 in Michigan City, he was married to Bertha Zerndt who died in 1938. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vera Schumaker, Mrs. Gladys Gatzka, both of Michigan City; Mrs Bernice Fox of LaPorte; four grand children; one sister, Mrs. Edith Houtz of South Bend; two brothers, Oscar Zimmerman of South Bend, and Jacob of LaPorte. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Haverstock chapel with the Rev. C.H. Lininger officiating. Burial will be in Patton cemetery. Served in the Union Army - Enlisted as Private 27 May 1864 into Co B, 138th Inf. Regt. Ind.
MO in Indianapolis 30 Sep 1864. Then enlisted as Private again Vo. B, 155th on 13 Feb 1865 and MO in Dover, DE on 4 Aug 1865. On September 8th, 1904 his widow Emma E. filed for pension payment. Buried in Cross Cemetery.

Zimmerman, Jud- LaPorte Daily Argus -- 8 May 1922 - Jud Zimmerman, 36, died at the National Military Home in Dayton, O., at 12 o'clock Saturday night. Mr. Zimmerman was born in LaPorte county, October 4, 1886 and lived here all his life until he went to the hospital in Dayton. During the war he was employed as a civilian at Camp Custer, Mich., as he was not physically fit to enter the army. His body has been brought back to LaPorte to the home of his sister, Mrs. William Cook, 1201 State street. The funeral will be from her home at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Rev. William Bostice officating, with the burial in Pine Lake Cemetery. E.E. Ebbert is in charge. Those who survive him are: Sisters, Mrs. Anna Reed of LaPorte; Mrs Edith Houtz, of Detroit; Mrs. William Cook, of LaPorte and Mrs. Millie Bankson of South Bend; brothers, Walter and Henry of LaPorte, Jake of South Bend and Oscar of Elkhart. -
  Jerab Zimmerman The body of Jerab Zimmerman, son of Mrs. Daniel Zimmerman, 1201 State street, arrived in the city last night from Dayton, O., where Mr. Zimmerman passed away at the National Military Home at midnight Saturday. Funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2:30. Rev. W.F. Bostick of the First Bapist church, officiating. Interment will be in Patton cemetery. E.E. Ebbert is in charge of the arrangements. Jareb Zimmerman, better known to his many friends as "Jud", was born in Galena township, October 4, 1886. He attended the country schools of the county and later took up his work as a farmer. At the outbreak of the world war he offered his service to his country but due to physical disability he was rejected. Shortly after returning to his home tuberculosis developed and for the past two years he had been in ill health. Mr. Zimmerman entered the National Military Home at Dayton some months ago and resided there until the time of his death. He is survived by his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Reed, LaPorte; Walter Zimmerman, LaPorte; Mrs. Edith House, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. William Cook, LaPorte; Mrs. Minnie Bankson, South Bend; Henry Zimmerman, LaPorte; Oscar Zimmerman, Elkhart and Jacob Zimmerman, South Bend. La Porte Herald - Miss Mary Zinn, died Sunday evening about 6:10 at her home in Union Mills. She was middle aged, unmarried and a most highly respected and beloved resident. Some two weeks ago she fractured one of her legs just below the knee by a hard fall, from which she was suffering at the time of her death, although the direct cause of the latter was due to heart failure. Sunday she felt so much better that she sat up for nearly five hours, when she complained of feeling very thired and weak. She was helped back to her bed expiring almost as soon as she lay down.

Zook - Mrs. Anna Zook, 77, of Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, died there Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1:10 pm following an illness of three years. She was born July 15, 1903, in Starke County, Ind., to Arthur and Julie (Hayes) Palen and had lived here most of her life. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the VFW, Moose and Eagle Auxiliaries. She was married to Orval N. Zook who died Aug. 3, 1963. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Bunch of LaPorte and Mrs. Leora Clark of Columbia, Mo., and one brother, Roland D. Palen of LaPorte. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Graveside services will be 11 am Wednesday at Patton Cemetery with Dr. Paul W. Murray officiating.
