David was the son of David Gross, Jr and Elizabeth Dewitt. David. David was born January 1, 1842 in Kutztown, Berks Co, Penn
and died March 22, 1907 in Union Mills, LaPorte Co, Indiana.

m1. Chestine “Chesty” Yerger on 09 JAN 1866 in Cary, Wyandotte Co, Ohio. Chestine “Chesty” Yerger was born February 7, 1848 in Hartley,
Union Co, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Benneville and Hetty Yerger/ Yarger.
Chestine died of typhlitis on February 27, 1890 in Morgan, LaPorte Co, Indiana.

m2. Mrs. Martha Elizabeth (Speece) Sheeley on 29 OCT 1891 in Adams Township, Champaign County, Ohio.  Martha was born 10 MAY 1845 and
died 31 JAN 1923.  On 11 APR 1907, Martha filed for widow's Civil War Service pay.

Burial: McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, Sandusky, Ohio

David and Chestine had the following children:

Ontario and died; 6 OCT 1908 in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York -
m2. Blanche Strauch on 08 SEP 1910 in Yonkers, NY.  Blanche was born 04 SEPT 1881 and died 26 MAR 1959.  
All three of them are buried in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, Westchester Co, NY

6. BenjaminFranklin Gross was born near Hanna on Jan 1, 1876 and he died Oct 30, 1930.
He married Alma Mary Moyer 23 AUG 1896 in LaPorte, Indiana.  She was born 27 JAN 1878 and died 06 AUG 1933 in Henrotin Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
Both are buried in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana

7. George Marion. born Nov 6, 1881 near Hanna and he died abt April 16, 1933.
He married 28 OCT 1908 in LaPorte County, Indiana to Olga Julianna Ludtke.  She was born 1881 in Rolling Prairie, Indiana and died 20 APR 1960 in LaPorte, Indiana. 
Both buried in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana

8. Walter Byron Gross born 24 JUL 1885 and died 19 APR 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana.  He married Lana Teerock 01 DEC 1906 in Union Mills, Indiana. 
She was born 12 OCT 1887 in Buckley, Illinois and died 19 SEP 1948. 
Both are buried Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana

David died died at his residence, a short distance South of Wellsboro, of dropsy and congestive heart failure. He served in the Civil War – later was a plasterer and a farmer.
David and Chesty are both buried in Morgan Cemetery, Cass, LaPorte Co, Indiana. Chesty and David had eight children, three of them dying young and also being buried in Morgan Cemetery.

David, at the age of 21, enlisted as a Private on 15 Aug 1861 - Co. C, 49th Infantry Regiment, Ohio. He was wounded 10 Aug 1864 &
Discharged due to being wounded on 27 Apr 1865. (the bullet never was removed according to family stories) - He filed for disability 7 Jul 1865
