William married Harriet Sweet in La Porte County, Indiana 5 June 1849.

William and Harriet were divorced sometime between the 1870 census and the 1880 census when Harriet states she is divorced. Harriet then remarried William W. Bugbee (Bugby) in La Porte County, Indiana on 11 May 1885.

Harriet is buried in Rolling Prairie Cemetery as are a few of the other McGarity kin.

Levina states that she had 7 children and 4 are still living in 1910.

William A. McGarity, married Anna Frances Hunt 28 August 1883 in Berrien County, MI

She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Hunt. Anna was born March 1864 in La Porte Co. and died 18 April 1936 in La Porte.
