Manul Ray Cox, 81, 3652 W. Dunes Highway, died at 5 a.m. Saturday (December 31, 1988) at St. Anthony's.
   The funeral will be at the Root Funeral Home at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
   Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. tomorrow.
   Mr. Cox was born Aug. 27, 1907, in Success, Ark., the son of Charles and Linda Decer Cox. On Jan 4, 1932, in Truman Ark., he married Mildred Long, who survives.
   Also surviving are three sons, William Ray, Charles and Lester Cox, all of Michigan City. 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
   Mr. Cox was a construction worker for Tonn & Blank, Michigan City. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

   Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. today and until the service tomorrow.
   Mrs. Cox was born Jan 10, 1913, in Bay, Ark., the daughter of William or Loria Hudson Long. On Jan. 4 1932, in Truman Ark., she married Manul R. Cox, who died Dec 31, 1988.

KENNETH C. FREELAND July 21, 1916 - Oct. 26, 1993 LAPORTE - Obituary LaPorte Herald-Argus -"Kenneth C. Freeland, 77, of 9858 E. County Road 200 N., died Tuesday afternoon in Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago, after an illness. Mr. Freeland was a retired farmer. He was born July 21, 1916, in LaPorte and was a lifelong resident. On Sept. 17, 1941, in LaPorte, he married Julia Szilagyi. She survives with two daughters, Judy Bowmar of Union Mills and Yvonne Horvath of New Carlisle; two sons, Kenneth E. "KC" of LaPorte and William "Bill" of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Rollins and Jeanette Schlicht, both of LaPorte; and a brother William of South Bend. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fish Lake. Private services were today in the church. Entombment will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Essling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity."

"Jeanne Lee McKee, 67, Michigan City, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday (March 21, 2001) at St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene E. Kohlbecker officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Hanna, to Frank and Joy (Slack) Sacks. Her mother survives in Michigan City. Her father preceded her in death. Also surviving are one son, Gordon (Kathy) McKee, Chesterton; one brother, Robert (Judi) Sacks, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. McKee was a sales person for a fur shop. Prior to that she worked at Lowenstein's in Valparaiso as a buyer for lingerie for 15 years."

Funeral services for Andrew Miller, 66, 1106 Wright Ave., who died Monday, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Haverstock Funeral Chapel with the Rev. M.E. Reinke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of service. The son of Frederick and Wilhelmina Miller, the deceased was born Feb. 12, 1887, in Germany. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Martin Vollrath, LaPorte; a grandson, and a brother, William, Michigan City.

ROBERT PIOTROWSKI JR. - -Robert Roy Piotrowski Jr., 45, of Michigan City, died at 3 a.m. Friday (Nov. 13, 1992) at home. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Chapel. The Carlisle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no visitation. Mr. Piotrowski was born Sept. 11, 1947, in Michigan City, the son of Robert Roy and Phyllis E. Hanyzewski Piotrowski. Surviving are three sons, Jeremy, Greg and Adam, all of Michigan City; his parents Robert and Phyllis Piotrowski, Michigan City; and one sister Audrey Milcarek, LaPorte. Lynda Vackar officiating. Burial is at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Reed was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Union Mills, to John and Lillie (Wothke) Sacks. On April 27, 1946, in LaPorte, she married Orville Reed, who preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1989. Surviving are three sisters, Phyllis Bayer, LaPorte, Katherine Mrozinski, LaPorte, and Irene Sharkey, Michigan City; and three brothers, John Sacks, Michigan City, Norman Sacks, Clearwater, Fla., and Wilfred Sacks, La Porte. She was preceded in death by a sister, Leota Karras, and a brother, Delbert Sacks. Mrs. Reed was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Frank Albert Sacks, 74, of 4899 600W, died August 10, 1983 at 7:20 a.m. at his house. He was born August 10, 1909 in Hanna and lived in the area his entire life. He had retired as a dispatcher for Tucker Freight Lines. On May 23, 1933, in Crown Point, Ind., he married Joy O. Slack, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Robert of Michigan City; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Mann, of Valparaiso, Ind., four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one step great-grandson, one brother Henry of Warsaw, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Rose Yourst, of Michigan City. "Irene L. Sharkey, 77, Michigan City, died at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000) at Baker Nursing Home, Michigan City. The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Carlisle Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Fine officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carlisle Funeral Home. Mrs. Sharkey was born March 11, 1922, in Rolling Prairie, Ind., to John F. and Lillie O. Wothke (Sacks). On April 11, 1948, in LaPorte, she married A. John Sharkey. He survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Wilfred (Mary) Sacks, La Porte, Norman (Evelyn) Sacks, Florida, and John (Norma) Sacks, Michigan City; and two sisters, Katherine (Joseph) Mrozinski, La Porte, and Phyllis (Robert) Bayer, La Porte. A brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Sharkey was retired as a first-aid nurse for La Porte Corporation. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and until the time of service Friday at the Funeral home. Mrs. Ward was born Nov. 24, 1932 in Kennett, Mo., the daughter of John and Mabel Hampton Masterson. On Jan. 22, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., she married Dale Ward, who preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Bunch, Chesterton, Cynthia Ward, LaPorte; four sons, Dale G. Ward, Nashville, Tenn., Larry Ward, LaPorte, Robert Ward, Michigan City, Richard Ward, LaPorte; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and had lived in LaPorte lmost of her life. She was a member of Springville Free Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the church or the donor's choice.
