History Of Lawrence County, Indiana

Lawrence County was named for Capt. James Lawrence, a United States navy officer, commander of the Frigate "Chesapeake", whose trips to England failed to avert the War of 1812. Capt. Lawrence lost his life in the battle with the English frigate "Shannon". I received this picture from Cindy Cooper Jones with the following:

"Attached is a picture found among my grandmother's things. Written on the back are the names Leo Nance and Lloyd Speer. Can this be posted to the Lawrence County site to see if anyone connects to these two men? Leo was a cousin to my grandmother, Thelma Louise Sutherland."

 Thank you. Cindy Cooper Jones"

Could this be our future Lawrence County Coordinator?
