SUES FARMER FOR BREACH OF PROMISE

Mrs. Amanda Bierley Asks for $10,000 Balm

Mrs. Amanda E. Bierley, West 6th Street, has file suit against James M. Stafford, a wealthy Lawrence County farmer, for $10,000 for breach of promise. The suit was filed at Bedford for Mrs. Bierley by Wellons & Carpenter. The complaint alleges that Mrs. Bierley and Stafford entered a marriage contract about July 11; that the marriage was to have taken place April 1, 1912, and that when the time for the wedding came, Stafford failed to appear and has since refused to fulfill his part of the agreement.

Stafford is a widely known farmer living six miles from Bedford. He is said to be well fixed and friends estimate his holdings at from $25,000 to $35,000.
