Carrie M. Gregory, 69, Springville, died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday at Bedford Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born in Wayne County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Ben and Roxie (Bell) Phillips. She married James C. Gregory June 7, 1961 and he died May 1, 1996. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove Pentecostal Church. Surviving are one daughter, Sandy Cain of Mitchell; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters: Opal Chapman, Charlene Banks and Alma Jones, all of Springville, and Aline Nelson of Houston, Texas; and four brothers: Stanley, Eugene, Joseph Ray and Howard W. Phillips, all of Springville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and three brothers: R.C., Glen and Luther Phillips. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Steve Phillips and Pastor Larry Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. EAST OOLITIC James C. Gregory, 62, Maple Ridge Apartments, East Oolitic, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born in Letcher County, Ky., he was the son of Thomas and Laura (White) Gregory. He married Carrie May Phillips June 7, 1961, and she survives. He was a retired stone worker for Independent Limestone Co. in Bloomington and of Protestant faith. Surviving with his wife are one stepdaughter, Sandy Cain of Mitchell; two sisters: Geneva Cobb of Springville and Ethel Blake of Bedford; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Everett Gregory, and one sister, June Kid Candy. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery with the Revs. Merla Craig and Larry Hawkins officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Day & Carter Mortuary, Bedford.

Jones of Springville, IN, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Westview Nursing Home.  Born on May 2, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Floyd and Sarah (Wright) Flynn.  She married Oscar Edward Jones on October 7, 1938, and he died January 3, 1966. Surviving are five sons:  Lonnie, Rickie, Edward, and Edgar Thomas Jones, all of Springville, IN, and Jimmie Jones of Bedford, IN; four sisters:  Madeline Thompson and Carole Baker, both of Bedford, IN; Betty Veatch of Bloomfield, IN, and Louise Page of Springville, IN; two brothers, Rev. Darrell (Pete) Flynn of Bedford, IN, and Robert Flynn of Hemlock, IN; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Stephen Jones; one great-granddaughter, Sonya Kay Jones; two daughters-in-law, Judy (Crum) Jones and Edith K. (Connor) Jones; one sister; and three brothers, Harold, George, and Bennie Flynn. She was a homemaker and a member of Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission. Services for Helen Jones will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19th, at Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission with Bro. Wendell Phillips and the Rev. Edith K. Jones Dec. 3, 1941-July 29, 2000 SPRINGVILLE -- Edith Kay Jones, 58, Springville, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Bloomington Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ora and Anna (Strunk) Conner. She married Edward Franklin Jones on Nov. 20, 1962, and he survives. She was a homemaker and member of Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church. Surviving with her husband are four daughters: Angela Davis of Bloomington, Karen Smith of Smithville, Cheryl Stancombe of Bargersville and Kathryn Weddle of Oolitic; three sons: Jeff and Brian Jones, both of Bedford, and Tim Jones of Springville; her mother, Anna Conner of Springville; one brother, Dale Conner of Martinsville; one sister, Mona Jones of Springville; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; three sisters: Mary M., Cheryl and Rose Conner; one granddaughter and one nephew. Born Oct. 28, 1972 in Bedford he was the son of Rickie L and Mona Lisa (Conner) Jones. He was a student at Bloomington South High School and a member of Springville Pentecostal Mission Church. Survivors include his parents of Springville; two brothers, Rickie Allen Jones and Kevin Dale Jones, both at home ; one sister Treva Eileen Jones, at home; his paternal grandmother, Helen G. Jones of Bedford; his maternal grandmother Anna Ada Conner of Springville; and his paternal great grandmother, Sadie Flynn of Bedford. Teen driving go-cart killed

A 15 year old Monroe County boy was killed Friday afternoon south of Bloomington when he pulled onto a road in a go-cart in front of a northbound pickup truck. Steven W. Jones. XXXX S. Rockport Rd. was pronounced dead at the scene about 1:55 P.M. from head and internal chest injuries by Monroe County Coroner Dennis Troy. The accident occurred around 1 P.M. in front of the Jones's House on South Rockport Road a rural stretch of road about 17 miles south of Bloomington in Indian Creek Township. Jones reportedly rode his go-cart from the driveway of the house into the path of a northbound pick up truck as it rounded a curve. The driver of the truck was Brad Carter, 16, of XXXX Handy Ridge Road in Perry Township. Police said Jones was dragged on his go-cart under the front of the vehicle for about 240 feet before it came to stop in front of a relatives home at XXXX S. Rockport Road. Carter reportedly told police that his brakes locked. Monroe county deputy Steve Axsom said Carter was driving about 30- 35 mph the speed limit was 30 mph Axsom said no charges have or will be filed against Carter. A neighbor Fred Cody said he heard the screeching and  of the trucks brakes and ran to the scene with several other neighbors. Cody said he and two others used a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle off Jones who was pined underneath Cody said he checked the boys pulse but did not find one. Monroe County Sheriff's deputies arrived at 1:26pm and a van Buren Fire department rescue truck arrived at the same time. Cody said he had seen Jones riding his go-cart in the street several times before. Jones had just finished the eight grade at Batchelor Middle School  in Bloomington and was preparing to enter Bloomington High School South in the fall. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Funeral Home in Bedford. The Indiana State Police and the Indian Creek Township fire department also assisted at the scene.
TIMES MAIL Wilma J. Kidd of Springville, IN, died Thursday, October 3, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital.  She was born on August 14, 1930.  She married Hobert Kidd, and he survives. Surviving with her husband are two sons, Steven Kidd of Avoca, IN, and Terry Kidd of Oolitic, IN; one daughter, Linda Sue Smith of Celina, TN; two grandsons, and several brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker. Services for Wilma Kidd will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 7th, at the Grace Baptist Church in Springville.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Springville.  Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service time Monday at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

SPRINGVILLE — Hobert C. Kidd, 80, of Springville, died Saturday at his residence. He was a truck driver, worked in the aluminum industry, was a timber harvester, and retired from Indiana Limestone Co. in 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Sue Smith of Celina, Tenn.; two sons, Steven Kidd of Avoca and Terry Kidd of Oolitic; two brothers, Gola Kidd and Ernie Kidd, both of Bedford; and three sisters, Arie Rush of Bedford, and Dottie Murphy and Wilma Kidd, both of Seymour. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services Tuesday at the church. Day & Carter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
John L. Lee of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at his residence.  Born on October 18, 1950, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of John W. and Mildred R. (Parker) Lee. Surviving are three sisters:  Irma G. Tincher of Avoca, IN, Linda D. Bergman of Butler, IN, and Donetta J. Duncan of Bedford, IN.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew. He was an auto mechanic at the Marathon Station in Bedford and in Springville and was a member of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Services for John Lee will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Eugene Strunk officiating.   Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Springville.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the service time Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Rickie Alan Jones, 39, of Bedford died Thursday.  Born Oct. 21, 1969, in Bedford.
He was the son of Rickie L. and Mona (Conner) Jones. He married Lori Sullivan on Nov. 24, 1990, and she survives.  He was employed by Troyer-Beasley Produce in Bloomington.  He was of the Pentecostal faith. 
Survivors include his wife Lori Jones of Bedford; three sons, Zachary Jones, Steven Jones, and Conner Jones, all of Bedford; his parents, Rickie L. and Mona Jones of Springville; one brother, Kevin Jones and wife Sarah of Springville; one sister, Treva Peckham and husband William of Springville; maternal grandmother, Anna Conner of Springville; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Steven Jones; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Helen Jones; and maternal grandfather Ora Conner. 
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m.. on Tuesday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Benny Sutherland and the Rev. Phil Thorne officiating.
