On February 1, 1847, Alexander McCullough, age 68 and a resident of Lawrence County, Indiana, appeared before a justice of the peace and declared that he had known Thomas Parks and his wife, Anne (Wilson) Parks, for 55 years. He indicated that he knew said Thomas and Ann as early as 1791 in Mason County, Kentucky, prior to their marriage. Thomas and his wife reportedly lived in Mason and Fleming County, Kentucky, and later moved to Orange County, Indiana, about 1831 when Thomas was over 70 years of age. After the death of Thomas on an undisclosed date, Ann remained in Orange County and did not remarry.

McCullough recalled that Thomas Parks often spoke of his service during the Revolutionary War. He reportedly served in the "Pennsylvania Line" artillery regiment, until the war was over.
