BLAIR

I would like to know the parents of Thomas S. BLAIR's first wife, Elizabeth BIRD, whom he married in 1837, in Lawrence Co. By 1850 they sold land in Martin Co. (Rutherford Twp.) and they lived in Martin Co. the rest of their lives. Elizabeth BLAIR died in 1850, and Thomas subsequently married 3 more times, his last wife being Nancy Jane STEELE.

I am attempting to locate information on Jonathan BRIDGES who died in Martin Co. IN on 14 Jul 1859. He is buried in the Dog Trot Cemetery. I believe some of his sons were Jackson BRIDGES, Isaac BRIDGES, James BRIDGES and Edmond BRIDGES. Edmond was listed with Jonathan on the 1850 Census for Martin Co. IN. Isaac, James and Jackson were enumerated in the same area.

Looking for info on Nancy Clements, b. abt 1803 in KY. She was dgter of Bazel CLEMENTS (Bazel was b. 16 Jan 1770 & died 02 Nov. 1848) & Mary Morgan. Nancy married (1st) Matthew W. ROGERS in Shoals, IN on 24 July 1828. She married 2nd William STANLEY on 21 march 1856. She lived as widow with dgter & son-in-law, Mary & Samuel SAVAGE in 1880. I am seeking Nancy's death date and place. Also the death date of her first husband, Matthew W. ROGERS who seems to have died before 1850 census, as he was not listed there. CRANE

Always looking for others who are researching the CRANE family, with the goal of learning more about the origins of Richard CRANE and his possible brother or uncle, James, who came to Martin County in the early 1820's. Richard CRANE married Rebecca GARDNER in 1824, then, after her death, her sister, Elizabeth. Richard had 14 children, so there are a lot of descendants out there!

DYE

I am searching for information on Henry Clay DYE, born in 1849 at Dover Hill, Martin County, IN. Henry Clay DYE was in Missouri and then in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He left a family behind in Missouri and went to Arkansas to be with Amanda Roxie HARPER, my great grandmother. He was in Arkansas in about 1897 until he died in 1915 at Banner, AR. We would like to find out who his parents and siblings were.

EMMONS

I am searching for the families of James M. EMMONS, born about 1755 in Martin Co. IN. He married Martha Emiline BOLES, daughter of Robert Howard and Mary Ann McCOWN BOLES in Lincoln County, Kansas on April 4, 1880. The 1880 Kansas census lists both the EMMONS and BOLES families as born in IN. An old family notebook says it was in Martin Co. and the cemetery was at Emmons Ridge. James M. EMMONS disappeared in Lincoln Kansas in December of 1880. Any clue to this mystery would be appreciated.

FROMAN

I am researching the FROMAN surname, specifically for information about Walter H. FROMAN and his wife, Mary C. (whose surname may have been SMITH). This family lived in Martin County prior to 1900 but I have only found them on the 1900 census. They left Indiana sometime after 1900 and I found them in Missouri on the 1910 census. By then only 3 of their 13 children were with them. I am also particularly interested in one of their children, David W. FROMAN who was born in Indiana in 1889.

Looking for the parents of Ralphael Jerome HATCH. He mainly went by just Jerome. He resided in Martin Co., IN in the mid 1800's. On the 1870 census he stated that he was born in KY. This would have been around 1825. On another census he listed both of his parents as being born in Maryland. His first wife was Elizabeth DOWNEY. His second wife was Harriett SUTTON. I am seeking information on Jonathan PHILLIPS and his wife, Darcus Serilda MAYFIELD. They were married on Aug. 15,1850 in Lawrence Co., IN. Jonathan was born ca. 1828 in Indiana and his parents were born in North Carolina, according to the census. Dorcus was born ca. 1835 in Kentucky to Robert and Serilda MAYFIELD. She died April 28, 1901 in Center Twp., Martin Co., IN. and is buried in Dover Hill Cemetery. Their known children were: Mary Elizabeth (my g, g, grandmother) born May 30, 1852, Martha Jane, Rebecca, John E., General Andrew Jackson, Daniel W., and Sarah C. (Clementine). Prior to 1880 they were living in Indian Creek Twp., Lawrence Co., IN. around Silverville and Fayetteville. In 1880 they were living in Rutherford Twp., Martin Co., IN. Looking for info on Soleman PHIPPS that lived in Burns City Martin Co. His father James W. PHIPPS bought land in early 1830s where Crane Naval Amo plant now is. Belive he died early 1900s but unable to find death record or where he is buried. His wife was Sarah Evelyn WEBSTER.

George Washington PINKLEY was born in Martin Co. on 2 Jul 1848. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin PINKLEY and Margaret Killion PINKLEY. I'd appreciate any information on William QUACKENBUSH, b. Lawrence County, IN 26 October 1825. (Son of John QUACKENBUSH.) m. Perlina TAYLOR, b. April 1831 (daughter of Henry TAYLOR) at United Church of the Brethren in Christ, Martin County, 2 April 1846. William was the brother of Albert QUACKENBUSH who resided in Martin County. Their father, John QUACKENBUSH, may have married Sally FOOTE 22 May 1822 in Lawrence County.

RANEY

Looking for descendents of the RANEY families who settled in Martin County before 1820. I am descended from Jeremiah RANEY b. abt 1760 who married Mary Jean Sheenah MOORE (widow of Alexader MOORE), 12/23/1797 in Washington County, KY. Who were their parents? Joseph and Clement RANEY also bought land in Martin County before 1820. Said to be Jeremiah's first cousins. Who were their parents? Where were the RANEYs from before KY? I am interested in any information about RICHARDSONs in Martin County. In the LAUGHLIN family tree, I found a John Riley RICHARDSON, and a Winburn Otis RICHARDSON; have not been able to trace the RICHARDSONs of Greene County any further than my ggrandfather. Wonder if they came from Martin County.

Looking for Basil RODGERS. He married Elizabeth STEPHENS. Basil's father was Matthew Ro(d)gers and mother was Nancy CLEMENTS? Basil and Elizabeth had children named Wesley, John b1865 in Cassville, Barry, MO., Lavinia, Mary Ellen and Sarah. John Rodgers, my GF, married Mollie McAHRON, my GM. John's 1st wife was Susan CROSS. Seeking info on Julia A SUMMERS and her parents Benjamin SUMMERS and Annie Mariah LENTS. Julia was born 11 July 1860 in Loogootee.She married George W.
