Will of James Farrell

 

Last Will and Testament of James Farrell Deceased.

In the name of the Common Father of all, I, James Farrell, do make and publish this my last will and testament,

Item 1st. I, give and devise to my wife in lieu of her interest in my real estate the four lots in a square on which now reside, together with the appurtenances, and also all my household and kitchen furniture, one cow, and hogs. Also all the notes that I now hold against James Drew, George Smith and Silvester Smith, amounting in all to about two thousand dollars.

Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to Mary Cain Lot number fifteen in the Town of Loogootee.

Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to Edward Farrell, Lot number Sixteen in Loogootee.

Item 4th. I give and bequeath to Patrick Farrell, Lot number Forty Six.

Item 5th. I give and bequeath to Saint Johns Church at Loogootee for the purpose of Building a new Catholic Church therein. Lots numbered Eighty Eight, Eighty seven, One Hundred and thirty nine, one hundred and forty, one hundred and forty one, in the Town of Loogootee Martin County Indiana. Also, Lots numbered Seventy Eight, one hundred and six, and one hundred and seven, in the Town of Loogootee, and also Lot number twenty seven (27) in Campbells and Breens addition to the Town of Loogootee.

Item 6th. I leave a mortgage on John Montgomery to defray my Burial expenses and last sickness together with any thing that may be legally due by me at the time of my decease, and if any left my desire is to belong to my wife.

Item 7th. All articles not above mentioned or divided, such as claims that may be due me or articles in my possession, I devise and bequeath to my wife to be disposed of as she thinks proper.

Item 8th. I do hereby nominate and appoint John A. Breen and the Reverend Lewis Gueguen Executors of my last will and testament and authorize them to sell all real estate bequeathed to the Church as they think proper, and all other items according to the laws and the intention of my last will.

I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made, in testimony whereof I have her unto of my hand and seal this 24th day of May 1869. James Farrell
