E. N. Canine, former Waveland boy, and now superintendent of East Chicago, Ind., was included in a list of 500 leading educators of the United States who are graduates or former students of Indiana University, in whose honor a banquet was held at Cleveland, O., last week as a feature of the annual convention of the Department of Superindence of the National Education Association. The celebration was known as “Presidents’ Homecoming Night,” and was arranged by George E. Carrothers, I.U. alumnus who is now assistant superintendent of the Cleveland schools. Among the distinguished educators present were a number of the 28 living university and college presidents or ex-presidents who are I.U. products.

Prof. EN Canine is spending a part of his vacation from the normal in having his house out at the old farm painted. The last coat it got was in 1910. John Shanks and Will Sims are doing the work. kbz
