The only reference to John Cheap was found in the Montgomery County People's Guide, 1874. He is listed as an "optician," living in Crawfordsville, having been born i 1841 in Ireland. He was a Democrat and Catholic and "came to Montgomery County in 1860;" however, I did not find this man in the 1860 or 1870 census = kbz.
