Herbert Sumner Hesler, son of Lincoln and Jennie May Sumner Hesler was born at Veedersburg, Fountain County November 24, 1897. Lincoln Hesler (born Aug 21, 1862) was the son of William and Matilda       Hesler. Graduate of DePauw University 1884 and in June of that year was administered to practicing law becoming a member of the Fountain County Bar. He practiced law in Fountain 21 years at the end of which time he moved to Crawfordsville where he practiced six years. Then retired because of ill health. He  served as city atty while residing in Veedersburg. He died in Crawfordsville Nov 3, 1918. He was a member of: Masonic Lodge; Tribe of Ben-Hur and the Christian Church.

On December 6, 1883, Lincoln Hesler married Jennie May Sumner who was born in Covington April 27, 1865. Her parents were Alvah and Emily Booe Sumner. She resides in Crawfordsville. Two children were born to Lincoln and Jennie May (1) Russell Lowell born Veedersburg June 5, 1893  and Herbert above.

Alvah Sumner, father of Jennie May was born in Ohio March 26, 1828. When 19 he moved with his parents to Indiana. Cabinetmaker.  Died in 1916. His wife, Emily Booe Sumner was born in New Liberty,       Ind Dec 26, 1830 and died Nov 28, 1908. They were the parents of four children: Alfonso; Will H.; Frank; Jennie May.

H. S. Hesler, graduated from Crawfordsville HS in 1915 and from Wabash College, AB in 1919. During 1918 he took special intensive military training for 3 months at Harvard University after which he was         assigned as a sergent and instructor in the SATC at Wabash College.  On November 13, 1918, he was sent to Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill to train for a commission. In 1920 Mr. Hesler became associated           with the Oriental Brick Company of C'ville. 1921 - VP. 1929  - Pres which he has held to present. The company manufactures building and paving brick which is sold throughout the Central  States. The plant has a capacity of 12,000,000 bricks per year. The Oriental Brick Co. employs 50 persons.

H.S. Hesler is a Republican and member of: Blue Lodge, F&AM ; BPOE; Crawfordsville Country Club; Montgomery County Chambe rof Commerce; Montgomery County Chapter, Citizens Historical Association and the M.E. Church. His favorite recreations are golf and swimming. Mr.Hesler owns a farm that is located in Montgomery County
