Kelly - William M.

Source: Zach, Karen Bazzani.  Montgomery Medicine Men .... Crawfordsville :MCHS, 2002.

Little is known about this Dr. Kelly.  William M. Kelly did marry (wife Mary) as he is listed as a physician in the 1870 Walnut Township census.  he did not practice long there and it is thought that he went to Jamestown shortly after the census.  The Bowen History stated he was born and reared at New Ross but he is not found in the 1850 or 1860 census.  It is no tknow under whom he studied medicine, nor if he graduated from a medical college. The Bowen History also said that he was in the Civil War, ranking as a major.  He was supposed to have gone to Knox, Indiana and died from injuries to his leg which was received while saving a child from a runaway team of horses.
