Ernest E. McClellan filed a petition in the Montgomery County Circuit Court on November 14 asking that he be permitted by order of court to adopt Mary Catherine McCarty, and on Saturday, November 16, a hearing was held before judge Rice at which time an order was entered permitting Mr. McClellan to adopt her as his own and permitting her to take the name of Mary Catherine McClellan. - typed by kbz
