Source: Crawfordsville Journal ? 1885

John McCormick was born Dec 31, 1775 and died July 8, 1817. Jane Todd was born Oct 12, 1782, and died June 12, 1864. They were married Feb 12, 1804. They had 3 sons and 3 daughters, two of whom are now living. They moved to Indiana in 1828, from Shelby Co, Ky. Incidents of her pioneer life: ten years after the death of Mr. McCormick, she took her oldest son, Preston and rode on horseback all the way from Kentucky in search for a home in a new country. She selected the farm on which her youngest son, Charley, now lives. After building a log cabin, she returned back to Kentucky and brought her family to their new home. It is to her credit that her children are among the best citizens of the County. Presidential candidates voted for: We are sorry to say, "None," as our forefathers did not consider such heroic women competent to share the responsibilities of the government in those days.
