Vancleave - Asa Milton

He was a tall man, 6'2'' and had a full head of hair in this picture. He was the son of Crawford Van Cleave and Eunice Jane King. He was born in 1846 in Browns Valley, Montgomery, Indiana. His family moved to Grundy County, Missouri about 1860. He served in the Civil War with the 11th Regiment, Missouri Calvary, 1863-1865. He married Mary Jean York in 1866 in Grundy, Missouri and they migrated to Kingston, Shoshone, Idaho about 1889. He died in the Old Soldier's Home in Fort Orting, Pierce, Washington in 1922. This picture shows his Civil War Medal.
