Vancleave - Charles L.

Brief biography written by KBZ - had to use this nifty picture :)

- Charles Lee VanCleave was born near New Market on the VanCleave farm on the 9th day of February in 1867. He was the fourth son and fourth child of Ransom and Sarah Surface VanCleave. His father was a farmer and well-known cabinet maker. Charles did post graduate degree work and probably became the first or one of the first Ear, Nose & Throat specialists in the area. Never forgiving himself for being away with other patients when his young wife, Dora Yaryan died at age 36, he did remarry Anna Webb to help with his children, Mabel and Florence. However, he was madly in love with Dora (02 Oct 1868 - 9 Jan 1895) daughter of Ira Groner and Cynthia Ann (Jackson) Yaryan and literally grieved himself to the grave passing away 08 Apr 1898. Sadly, the two very young girls were left to relatives to be raised. - kbz
