Vancleave - Elder E.E.

Elder Vancleave, the veteran minister, who has probably officiated at more weddings than any justice or preacher in the state, added two more weddings to his score yesterday, making a grand total of 775 couples that he has tied up for better or for worse. The first arrivals were William A. Martin and Nellie Goble, who had their wants attended to with all neatness and dispatch and were dismissed with a kindly blessing. Shortly thereafter the door bell again sounded and Benjamin Brackett and Minnie Davis, a worthy young couple from Brown Township, were admitted to his presence. A doubly interlaced nuptial knot of the never-slip pattern made them supremely happy and they hurried away to catch the train for Chicago for a bridal trip. With very few exceptions the 775 ceremonies to Elder Vancleave's credit have been performed at his residence on South Walnut Street.
