Barzilla R. CLARK

Barzilla R. Clark: Was born in Ohio in 1833 and was a son of Henry and Christine (Clark) Clark, long ago deceased. He was married in Montgomery county, Ind., in February, 1855, to Martha E. Roberts and the result of this union is four children: Alonzo J., Margaret J. dec., Sherman R. and Harry. His wife was a daughter of John and Elenore (Gillmore) Roberts, both deceased, and was born in Indiana February, 1836. Our subject was a farmer by occupation and was 29 years old when he entered the Federal army during the late War of the Rebellion, April, 1862, from White county, Indiana. He cast his lot as a soldier with Co. G, 63d Ind. V.I. This Regt. was assigned to 3d Brig., 3d Div., 14th A.C. He was never wounded or captured although he took part in the battles of Perryville, Stone River, Milton, Hoover's Gap, Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, Dalton, Buzzard Roost, Burnt Hickory, Dallas, Peach Tree Creek, New Hope Church, Jonesboro and several others; he was honorably discharge d July, 1865, at Indianapolis, Ind. His brother, Jackson served in 150th Ind. V.I. His wife's brother, William belong to Ind. Bat. Our subject passed away May 18, 1878, near Covington, Fountain Co., Ind., his death being caused from diseases contracted in the army. His widow may be addressed at Battle Ground, Ind. 88.
