I would have written yesterday when we got home but I was so tired that I just couldn't get around to it. I want to thank you for the pleasant time I had when we were visiting you (sic) folks. I really enjoyed the trip and if I can manage the deal I'm going to try and get out again next year. It all depends on what I am doing and where I am by that time.
We drove to Clinton, Ia. for dinner that day we left and stayed all night some place in central Iowa. We took the north road through Iowa and they have had so much rain that they are unable to harvest their grain. Everything looks green but the grain is turning black in the fields. It seems like every section of the county had some kind of trouble. It is still dry here at home but it doesn't look any worse than when we left. The grasshoppers don't seem to be so thick so we have something to be thankful for.
It has been sultry here today but no sign of rain. Guess it just isn't supposed to rain in this country. It is hot and a rain would feel very good even if it just cooled things off for a while.
The friends we were expecting were at Cary's when we arrived so they came on up to GUy's with us and are to be over here tomorrow.
Say hello to all the folks for me and write sometime when you get in the mood.
