ESTON LEX MYERS
Thanks so much to his daughter, Linda for this picture
Eston enlisted in the Navy on the 3rd of April 1945 (with two children) and was out just a little over a year later on 12 April. Although born and raised in Fountain County (July 15, 1918 son of Herman "Lex" and Hazel Purnell Myers), where he graduated from Kingman HS, he spent much of his life at 607 West Main Street in Waveland, Indiana where he and his amazing wife, Berniece raised six children (Jerry, Sandy, Linda, Brenda, Byron and Carol). He worked at Wabash College in the maintenance department as a security guard for several years, and also helped his brother, Bob, in an upholstery business. They were amazing upholsterers.
shared a nifty tale about when Eston was in the war.
Active in so many organizations in the Waveland community, Eston was a member of the Waveland Fire Department, the VFW and American Legion. I remember Eston as being very nice and almost always with a smile on his face.
It was a shock to the whole community when he passed away at such a young age of 58 on February 23, 1977. He is buried in the Old Union Cemetery.
