Robert Lyle Baker, 79, a former teacher in the Indiana and Illinois schools, died Thursday morning in a Logansport Hospital. He had been in failing health three months. Born Nov. 4, 1884, at Pittsboro, Mr. Baker was the son of James D. and Marietta McLeland Baker. He married Blanche Cook of Crawfordsville Sept. 1, 1913. Mr. Baker was a 1902 graduate of the Crawfordsville High School and a 1910 graduate of Wabash College. He was a member of Montgomery Masonic Lodge No. 50. Mr. Baker retired in August, 1962, after serving as office manager of the Bemis Bag Co., in Peoria, Ill., 38 years. He had lived in Darlington since his retirement. Survivors include the widow; one son, Robert Lyle Baker Jr., of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Caroline Stitely of Wakefield, R.I., and three granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Howard Miller officiating. Cremation will follow. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery. There will be no calling at the funeral home. – jlr
