Raccoon -- Thomas Baldwin, 57 years old, well known resident of this community was killed in an accident two miles south of Ferndale, near Rockville in Parke County, Tuesday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock. Mr. Baldwin was hauling logs and when the wagon upset he was thrown off, the logs piling on top of him, crushing his skull. He was employed by Flannigan & Fink, and Fred Fink discovered the body when he went to the scene of the accident for another load of logs. There were no eye-witneses to the accident, but the event could easily be reconstructed from the manner in which the body was found. The deceased was born October 1, 1870 near Bainbridge, the son of Robert and Catherine Baldwin and was married to Addie McCartney. He was a member of the Raccoon Methodist Church and of the Odd Fellow and Modern Woodmen lodges. His widow and five children survive. Funeral services will be conducted from the Raccoon Methodist Church Thusday afternoon at two o'clock with Rev. Vieztke in charge. Burial will be made at Shannondale. The body was brought to the Hunt-Ratcliff funeral home in Crawfordsville Tuesday night and returned to the home here today. -- kbz
