John Nathan Ball, who farmed near Waynetown in his early life and worked for the Smith & Duckworth Lumber Company for 21 years died Friday morning at the Westbrook Nursing Home. He was 83. Ball was born in Montgomery County Sept 8, 1879. His parents were Benjamin and Mary Jane Bell Ball. He was first married in 1904 to Eva White who died in 1947. His second marriage in Augugust 1949 was to Katie Fruits who died in 1959. He was a member of 1st Methodist Church and since his wife's death resided at 306 Porter St with his daughter, Mrs. Mary Kellison. In addition to Mrs. Kellison, survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Betty Hamm of Chicago; a son, Harry Ball of Madison Wis; a brother, Charles Ball of Dayton, Ohio, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Gegner of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Hanna Switzer of Waynetown and 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A son, William died in 1955. Funeral services will be held at Hunt & Son Funeral Home 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. William Goddard Sherman of the 1st Methodist officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Waynetown Masonic. -- kbz
