Mrs. Opal Banks, 79, a former resident of Crawfordsville, died in a Morehead, Ky., hospital. She was a daughter of the Rev. James C. Burkhart, former pastor of First Christian Church here. She married the Rev. Gabriel C. Banks in the church here July 7, 1921. She was a graduate of Butler University and United Christian College of Missions at Irvington. She and the Rev. Dr. Banks served as missionaries in Kawnpur, India, until she suffered malaria. Her husband died three years ago, shortly after retiring as an English professor at Morehead State Teachers College. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Scott Schindel of Mount Orab, Ohiok and Mrs. David Helfrich of New Port Richey, Fla.; a son, Bill of Houston, Tex.; a brother, Finis Burkhart of Lake Holiday; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Morehead. - jlr
