Evan Bannon, son of Charles and Mary Bannon, was born Sept. 18, 1903, and passed away March 1, 1951, at the age of 47 years, six months and 13 days. He was united in marriage to Verna May Crane Feb. 4, 1922, who preceded him in death Feb. 26, 1930. To this union three children were born, Clela Irene, Evelyn Marie and Richard Lee, who preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1947. On Nov. 3, 1935, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Hampton. He united with the Freedom Baptist church at an early age and always lived a good Christian life. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. The interests of his family were always the closest to his heart. He spent his entire life in Montgomery county. His early life was spent on the farm and after the death of his first wife, he learned the barber trade, where he was associated with the Suitors and Collins barber shop in Crawfordsville and for the past year and one-half had owned and operated his own business in Lafayette. Mr. Bannon had been seriously ill for the past two weeks but God alone knew his suffering for he was patient to the last. The death angels slipped quietly in at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon and bore his spirit to his home in heaven where suffering and heartaches are never known. He leaves to mourn a wife, Beatrice Bannon; two daughters, Mrs. Clela Jones and Mrs. Evelyn Farley, both of Crawfordsville; one brother, Eldo Bannon, of Ladoga; a sister, Mrs. Alva Smith, of Waveland; a twin sister, Mrs. Paul Hartstein, of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Patricia Ann Bannon, Clyde and Richard Lee Jones and Stephen Lee Farley, and a host of friends and relatives. 'Tis hard to break the tender cord, When love has bound the heart; 'Tis hard, O God, to say the word, Must we forever part?
