Arthur "Art" Barker, 74 of 826 W. Penn St d. at 4:30 a.m. Sat Jan 6, 1990 at Hoopeston Memorial Hospital. Born June 30, 1915 at Kingman Indiana the son of Herman & Goldie Thomas Barker, he married LaVonne Wells in Danville Jan 5, 1946. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Dean (Pam) Barker Hoopeston; David W (Lynn) Barker, Rossville; 3 sisters, Pauline Skinner, Hoospeston; Mrs. Clyde (Betty) Ridge, Waynetown IN; Laverne Ferguson, Frost Proof, Fla; 4 grandchildren; Becky, Justin, Tony & Jenny; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters. A member of the 1st Christ Church of Hoopeton; DAV; he retired in 1974 as a custodian of Hoopeston Schools. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and was an avid sports fan. He was a US Army Vet and served in WWII. Services at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Alkire Funeral Home, Hoopeston, officiated by Rev WT Harden. Burial at Floral Hill Cemetery with military rites by Amercan Legion Post 384. with visitation 6-8 on Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hoopeston Memorial Hospital - kbz
