WINGATE - Mrs. Halcie M. Barker, 81, a life Wingate resident, died at 8 p.m. Thursday in Home Hospital at Lafayette where she had been a patient since noon. She was educated in the Wingate Schools and was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ. Mrs. Barker was born Feb. 10, 1890, a daughter of Annis and Janie Fowler Mitchel. She married Charles C. Barker on her birthday, Feb. 10, 1909. He preceded her in death in 1934. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Forrest (Wilma) Duff of West Lafayette; a brother, John J. Mitchel of Lake View, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Taylor, Mrs. Raymond Stephens and Mrs. Earl Stephens, all of Lake View, Mich.; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Joseph L. and Clifford. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Clyde Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Sunday. The family asks that memorials be made to the Montgomery County Heart Association. - jlr
