Babb - Herschel Vernon - Montgomery InGenWeb Project

Funeral services were held at the Roemer Funeral Chapel in Attica Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, for Herschel Vernon Babb, age 54, of 701 Taylor St., Attica, who was stricken ill and died Friday, Dec. 8, while at work at Harrison Steel Castings Co. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Mr. Babb had been in ill health since last July. He had been employed at Harrison Steel Castings since 1935. Prior to that he worked for a time as a taxicab driver. Mr. Babb was born Sept. 5, 1907 in Cates, the son of John and Ellen Riley Babb. He was married in 1928 to Alberta Vaught, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Stanley Goen of Attica, and Mary Caroline, at home; two sons, Robert and John, both of Attica; a sister, Mrs. Icy Allen of Cates; two brothers, John of Crawfordsville; and Dewey of Cates, and four grandchildren. The funeral rites were conducted by the Rev. Don Waston. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Attica. - kbz
