Veedersburg -- Winfield G. Babb, 86, of 945 Kingsley Drive, Rockford, Ill died at 2:30 a.m Saturday in Swedish American Hospital at Rockford. He was a retired machinest with Greenley Brothers of Rockford. He was a member of the Harlem United Methodist Church of Rockford. Born July 5, 1890, he was a son of John and Adelaide Grubb Babb of Stone Bluff. He was married Jan 2, 1916 to Grace Higel off Covington. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Malcolm and Russell; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Pihl, Mrs. Jane Johnson and Mrs. Janet Sharp; a sisters, Mrs. Audrey Whiting ; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 a..m. Tuesday in Parham Funeral Home, Veedersburg; burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. Friends may call at the funeral home.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) – Winfield G. Babb, 86, formerly of the Veedersburg area, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 25, 1976) at the Swedish-American Hospital in Rockford Ill. Mr. Babb, of Rockford, had worked as a machinist with Greenly Brothers of Rockford before his retirement. He was a member of the Harlem United Methodist Church in Rockford. Born July 5, 1890 in Stone Bluff, he was a son of John and Adeliade Grubb Babb. He married Grace Hiigel on Jan. 2, 1916 in Covington. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Malcolm of Rockford and Russell of Loves Park, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Pihl and Mrs. Jane Johnson, both of Loves Park, and Mrs. Janet Sharp of Monroe Center, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Audrey Whiting of Veedersburg; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
