Basle Banta of Crawfordsville, age 79, died Saturday morning, December 26, in Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He was the husband of a former Newtown woman, Ramona Black. He was born December 9, 1902, near New Richmond, a son of Thomas and Florence Baxter Banta. He married Miss Black June 1, 1927.

  Banta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville, the Masonic Lodge of Freeport, Illinois, Scottish Rite, Civitan Club, a former deacon and trustee of the Danville, Illinois Baptist Church, and a former member of the Gary City Plan Commission. He was a 1923 graduate of the Crawfordsville High School.

  Survivors include the widow; a son, Ronald of Martinsburg, Virginia; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a brother of the late George Banta of Newtown.

  Services were held Tuesday morning with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Crawfordsville with Hunt & Son Funeral Home in charge.  ā€“ thanks so much to ā€œSā€
