Ed Bartholomew, who was well known here, was killed at Milligan on Sunday night. He was conductor on a freight that passed at 9 o'clock. In walking towards the engine he fell in between the cars, which passed over him cutting him in two. He was not missed until the train reached Roachdale. Ed Sappenfield, the night operator, happened to see the body through his window and reported the death. Bartholomew at one time lived here and was baggage man on the Midland. -- kbz
