-- John E. Barton, 59, lifelong farmer, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home six miles north of Crawfordsville near Cherry Grove. He had been ill for the past year with a heart ailment. Born south of Linden August 29, 1893, he was the son of Matthew and Martha Vail Barton. He was married January 28, 1914 to Sarah H. Fletcher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crawfordsville. The survivors include the wife; a sister, Mrs. Harold Grenard of Linden; three brothers, Frank & Ed Barton both of Linden and Harley Barton of Clinton Iowa as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Proffitt & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. George T. King in charge. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the residence from Wedneday noon until Thursday noon. kbz
