Source: Waveland Independent, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana, Friday, Jan 9, 1931

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heinen were in Lafayette on Tuesday afternoon to attend the funeral of Harry BAYLESS, a close friend of the family. Mr. Bayless was killed on Saturday afternoon by the fall of an airplane. He belongs to a decorating firm and the plane had been bought to be used in connection with the business. He had had 35 hours of flying and was making the first flight in the new plane when it went into a tail spin and crashed near the Indianapolis road 3 miles east of Lafayette. At the Cemetery an aviator, flying low, dropped a sheaf of carnations on the grave. - kbz
