Mary Johnson was born at Brookville, Ind Aug 1,  1818 died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Perry Garland, Friday Nov 1,  1901.  Funeral Saturday at 11 a.m. [services conducted] by Rev. Gibson.  She was united in marriage to RR Benham at Franklin, Ohio March 3, 1836.  To this union were born 12 children of whom only two are living, Henry  and Mrs. Anna Garland. Mrs. Benham was one of the oldest residents of  Waveland having lived here for 48 years. She survived her companion 4  years. She joined the Christian Church in early life and those who knew  her best are witnesses of the consistent Christian life she lived.  Grandma Beham as she was familiarly known, bore her share of the  troubles of friends and neighbors and by kind ministration and words of  council lifted the burden from many an aching heart. Her acts of love  and kindness soothed the sorrows of those about her, and these many acts  will be remembered now that she is gone. May we cherish her memory and  imitate her goodness. -- kbz
