Waynetown - Donald P. Beard, 56, of Speedway died at 4 a..m. Sunday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis.  He was a 1950 graduate of Waynetown HS.  Mr. Beard was an underwriting specialist for Meridian Mutual Insurance at Indianapolis, employed at the firm for 30 years.  He served in the Army during the Korean War.  He was a 1956 graduate of Indiana University.  His ememberships included the Certified Property Casualty Underwriters and the Waynetown United Methodist Church. Mr. Beard was born Sept 21, 1931 at Fairmount, Ill to Ralph M. and Mikldred L. Shipps Beard. He was married Jan 31, 1954 at Waynetown to Mary Helen Heath.  His mother and wife, both of Speedway, survive him.  Other survivors include two sons, Stephen of Muncie and Ronald of Speedway and two granddaughters. His father is deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Hayden officiatnig. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Wednesday or from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Conkle Funeral Home at Speedway. - kbz

Services for Donald P. Beard, 56, Speedway will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown. Calling will be until 9 tonight at Conkle Speedway Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. Wednesday until services at Waynetown. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown.  Beard, who died Sunday in Methodist Hospital was an underwriting specialist for Meridian Mutual Insurance Co 30 years. He was a member of Waynetown United Methodist Church and Chartered Prperty and Casualty Underwriter and Insurance Institute of America.  He was a Korean War Army veteran. Survivors - wife Mary Helen heath Beard, sons Stephen, Ronald Beard; mother Mildred Bear; two granddaughters.
