-- Mrs. Lina W. Beck, pioneer resident of this county died this morning at 6 at her home on East Market Street, her last illness dated from last Saturday. She was the daughter of Chilton and Anne Johnson. She was born in Crawfordsville March 20, 1832, and was one of the first children to be born in Montgomery County. The deceased was a life-long resident of Crawfordsville and vicinity. Her early life was passed in a cabin on the site of the present YMCA building and she lived during the principal part of her married life in the house in which she died. She knew well and loved deeply the city of Crawfordsville. She was united in marriage to Robert F. Beck March 30, 1868, and survived him almost 16 years. The children born to this union were Walter, who died in infancy; Lucy C, deceased June 1891; Anna M and Susan K of this city and Mrs. Gertrude Beck Weaver of Rockford, Wash. In her youth she united with the Primitive Baptist Church. She attended this church regularly and lived an exemplary Christian life. She loved her church and was a constant leader of the Bible. She was a writer for the periodicals of the church, especially for the Signs of the Times, and was known to the readers of this publication as an excellent writer. The time of the funeral will be announced later.
