Mrs. Caroline A. Beck, one of the older residents of Crawfordsville passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phoebe L. Bowman, 1409 E. Main early Tuesday morning, August 30, 1927. She had been afflicted with heart trouble for some time, but had not been considered worse than usual. Death came suddenly. Mrs. Beck, daughter of Thomas P. and Margaret Miller, was born near Zionsville, Feb 18, 1841. She was married to William T. Beck in 1863. During the greater part of her life she was a member of the Christian Church and always took an interest in its work. She was also interested in the affairs of the day and was a wide reader. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Phoebe L. Bowman, one son, Charles R. Beck of Hammond, La; one brother, Mark D. Miller, of California; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Clydie LaFollette. Funeral services were held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Smith, pastor of the Christian Church of Ladoga, Ind. Interment was made in Shannondale Cemetery. transcribed by kbz
