NEW ROSS — L.D. Beck, 70, of Rt. 1, New Ross, died Wednesday evening in his home. Mr. Beck was a retired farmer in the New Ross area. He was a member of the Mace Methodist Church and a member of Farm Bureau. Born Dec. 4, 1905, in Boone County he was a son of O.D. and Ida Ann Darrough Beck. He attended schools in Boone and Marion counties. He was married to Gertrude Hubert on April 12, 1930, in Montgomery County. Surviving are his wife; a son, James of Lake Forest, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Evelyn) Miles of Rt. 5 and Mrs. Phyllis Shields of DeKalb, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Mable Westfall of Bradford, Ohio; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Powers Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor Link officiating. Burial will be in Mace K of P Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made to the Heart Fund or Mace Methodist Church. Donations may be sent to the funeral home.--waw
