Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal 16 December 1904

Jasper N. BEEDLE died at his home in Wingate Dec 8, 1904 aged 65 years 9 months and 7 days. He was born just across the Fountain County line in Ricland Twp on the old Beedle farm. Here he was reared to manhood. His early life was spent on the farm helping to make the home . Here he formed the habits of industry, thrift and economy which were his peculiar characterstics in after life. His education was above the average that the time and facililties afforded. On Christmas Day, 1862 he was married to Miss Mary DINWIDDIE. During the same winter he united with Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Mr. Beedle nd wife made for themselves a home. He was very industrious, a good manager and a man of superior judgment. His neighbors and friends found in him a good friend and a good counselor. He was active in church work. He served the church as deacon a number of years where his wisdom, council and active service were of great value to the church. His influence both in the church and community was always for good. He and wife took a babe 5 weeks old into their home which they reared to womanhood. This child shared their home love and inheritance as their own child. His wife died Dec 16, 1898. He was again married to Mrs. Mary J. MARSHALL Oct 4, 1899. His health began to fail 4 years ago. He quit the activities of life sold his farm. His attendance at the house of the Lord became less frequent. In the years of suffering that followed the true Christian life of the man manifested itself in the patience with which he bore his afflictions and his oftimes severe sufferings. At intervals of rest he read much, waiting trustingly until the time of his departure should come. His funeral was conducted in Pleasant Hill Christian Church by his pastor, Rev. FP Trotter assisted by Rev FO Fraley of the Methodist Church. The large # of friends and acquaintances who attended the funeral attest the high esteem in which Mr. Beedle was held. He leaves a wife, a father, daughter Mrs. Josei Alexander of Linden; a brother and sisters and many friends. Truly, "he giveth his beloved sleep." - kbz
