November 12th, 1874, there came to the home of Stephen and Mary Jane Bell, of Veedersburg, a tiny brown-eyed boy who was given the name of Guy. When a small boy the family moved to Alamo, where the father soon died and Guy assumed the responsibility of helping his mother rear the family of six children. He attended the common schools of Alamo and enjoyed helping in the Sunday school and churches of that place. February 7th, 1905, he united in marriage with Rosa Hughes and welcomed into his home her little son Nile, who he cared for as his own son. To this union was born one daughter, Wilda Leota, who with her mother, mourns his death.
