THOMAS BIGGERS

Thomas BIGGERS, 101, resident of Parke County died Monday, Oct 10, 1960 in the home of a nephew, George Staggs of Marshal RR. This newspaper carried an article on Mr. Biggers and his long-lived family some months ago. Survivors include an older brother, James 108, living in California and a younger brother, Eli, 91, with whom he lived side by side in trailer homes on the Staggs Farm near Byron. Born Feb 6, 1859 at Glasgow, KY he was the son of Owen & Elizabeth Chapman Biggers. He never married. In addition to the brothers, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. A retired railroader and farmer, Mr. Biggers was also a veteran of the Spanish-American War. Until recently he enjoyed excellent health for a man his age and enjoyed going fishing during the warmer weather. Funeral services were held at Barnes Mortuary, Rockville, Rev. JO Trousdale officiating; burial in Old Union Cemetery, Waveland. - kbz
