Donnie M. Birdsong, 29, of 407 Wilson Ave., died this morning in Indiana University Hospital at Indianapolis of injuries he received in an auto accident March 11. The accident occured on U.S. 231 about two miles north of Brick Chapel. The auto was northbound and the driver apparently lost control of it on the wet pavement. The vehicle skidded off the highway, over an embankment and into a stream. A companion, Terry Ross, 34, of 401 Bluff St., is still a patient in University Hospital and listed in serious condition in intensive care. Both men were thrown from the vehicle. Putnam County Sheriff James Baugh said he was at the crash site minutes after the accident occurred and at that time it was impossible to determine who was driving. Both men were unconscious when the sheriff arrived. Born July 17 1945, Mr. Birdsong was a son of Thedous and Edith Neal Birdsong. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville and a painter by profession. Surviving are his mother, a son, Greg of Florida; two brothers, Richard C. of Crawfordsville and Melvin G. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Linda Sue Fentress of St. Petersburg. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burkhart Funeral Home with the Rev Robert Shotts officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. – jlr

Donnie M. Birdsong, 29, Crawfordsville, died yesterday of injuries suffered March 11 when his car left US 231 and went over an embankment and into a stream 2 miles north of Brick Chapel in Putnam County. Services for Birdsong, a painter, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burkhart Funeral Home at Crawfordsville. Burial will be in the Waynetown (Ind) Cemetery.  Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Edith Birdsong of Crawfordsville. - kbz
