RAY L. BISHOP

Ray L. Bishop, 42, Wingate town marshal since 1954, died of a heart ailment at 10:30 p.m. Sunday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. He had been a resident here the last 20 years and formerly was employed by the Nickle Plate Railroad. Mr. Bishop was educated in Putnam County. He was a member of the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police and of the former Knights of Pythias Lodge of Wingate. A son of Luther L. and Nannie Ewbanks Bishop, he was born Sept. 29, 1918 in Somerset, Ky. He was married March 10, 1935 to Dorothy Mae Ping of Marshall. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ray J. and Charles L. Bishop of Wingate; six grandchildren; his mother, a brother, Bradford of Logansport, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Risner of Wingate. His father preceded him in death. Funeral rites Wednesday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. Jean McCan officiating and burial in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate. – jlr
