Elmer Elsworth Black, 76 of 806 Virginia St died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital. He had been a farmer many years and had worked at the Morris & Jack Greenhouse 12 years. For the past six years he had been retired. He was a member of Fremont Baptist Church. A native of Thorntown Mr. Black was born July 6 1890, a son of Charles David and Anna Jacoby Black. He was married to Cerelidia Iles Oc 16, 1911 in Crawfordsville. Surviving are the widow; three sons, Ernest, Claude Edward and Charles David all of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanore Shillings of Roachdale; three brothers, Clarence and Edgar of Crawfordsville and Joe of Salem, Oregon; 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille Frances Black, and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Tuesday at Bright Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with Rev. Robert Shotts officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Darlington. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today. - kbz
