Roy R. Blacker, 78, 908 W. Wabash Ave., retired painter and baker, died Wednesday in Culver Hospital where he had been a patient one week. He had been ill several weeks. Born April 4, 1882, in Lafayette, Mr. Blacker was the son of Jacob and Susan McDowell Blacker. He married Margert Ferguson of Wingate. Mr. Blacker was a resident of Wingate most of his life. He was a member of the Wingate Masonic Lodge. He had lived in Crawfordsville since 1954 when he retired from active business. Survivors include the widow; three sons, Marion Blacker of Dayton, Ohio, and William and Robert Blacker, both of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Eads of Wingate; two brothers, John Blacker of Romney, and Matt Blacker of Indianapolis; a sister. Mrs. Fannie Schlosser of Waynetown, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday. – jlr

Funeral services for Roy R. Blacker were held Saturday afternoon in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Nisbet officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Wingate. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were Everett Deer, Jess Haxton, Alfred Harmon, Harold Oxley, Chesley Holms and Clarence Rhoades. Masonic Rites were conducted at the graveside by the Wingate Lodge, of which the deceased was a member. Selections were played on the organ by Mrs. O. C. Edwards. – jlr
