WILLIAM "Jake" BLACKER

William J. "Jake" Blacker, 72, of 15 McCormick Drive, died late Thursday night at his home. Mr. Blacker owned and operated the Mace Grocery for 13 years and worked part time at Loeb's for seven years. He was employed at MidStates for 33 years, retiring in 1977. He is a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church. He was born April 7, 1909, at Waynetown, a son of Rog and Margrette Grenard Blacker. He was married to Maxine Jones April 30, 1939, at Frankfort. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Gibson of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville; a brother, Robert of St. Cloud, Fla.; a sister, Martha Eads of St. Cloud; and two grandchildren, Jill and Jake. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Austin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. - jlr
