WAYNETOWN - Gilbert E. Blackford, 77, a retired horse groomer at the Indiana State Fair horse barn, died at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been a patient in Lane House Nursing Home for two years prior to entering the hospital He was born in Fountain County on June 4, 1899, a son of Charles A. and Emma C. Brown Blackford. Surviving are his sister, Marie McNulty of Waynetown; a sister-in-law, Erma Blackford of Waynetown; four nieces; and four nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Thomas Funeral Home here with the Rev. Stephen Malone officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday. - jlr
