Blue - Mary - 1887

Source: Darlington Dispatch February 10, 1887

On Friday morning last at half past four o'clock.  Mrs. Mary Blue, wife of Wesley Blue, after a protracted illness, departed this life.  Mrs. Blue was born in Ireland in 1832, and came to this country at an early age.  In 1854 she married Wesly Blue, with whom she lived happily until the day of her death.  From this marriage there are two sons and two daughters, one of the later being dead.  Mrs. Blue was a devoted Christian, having joined the Presbyterian church in Ireland at the age of eleven years.  In 1850 she attached her self to the Presbyterian Church at Crawfordsville.  After moving to Darlington she put her letter to the Presbyterian church at this place and remained a member in good standing in this church until the day of her death.  Mrs. Blue was a devoted wife and mother, and bore all of her trials and misfortunes with that meekness and submission that betokens a truly noble and womanly character.  The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church and were conducted by Rev. Aikman.  Interment at Odd Fellows cemetery.  The community unites with sorrowing family and relatives in a common bereavement. – thanks to Kim H
